Fundamental solutions of Stokes equation in bounded domains are unwieldy and computationally-intensive, therefore of limited practical use compared to numerical solutions. Nevertheless, specific applications may benefit from their use, and we found no published record of a Stokes flow Green’s function for a rectangular domain. Therefore we developed a semi-analytical form of this fundamental solution in a rectangular channel using a combination of Fourier transform, eigenfunction expansions and a rapidly convergent representation of the Green’s function for a potential flow. The solution may serve as a basis for further analytical study of flow disturbances and their hydrodynamic interaction with the confining walls.
